Not “today” as in the day this post is written, but literally today, right now, right this moment. We don’t need a special day, a New Year, a Monday or the 1st of the month to begin something new. We just need to decide that today is the day for a new beginning.
“For He says, ‘At the acceptable time I listened to you, And on the day of salvation I helped you.’ Behold, now is ‘the acceptable time,’ behold, now is ‘the day of salvation,’” (2 Corinthians 6:2).
Salvation is the greatest gift in our lives.
It’s a total rebirth of our spirit. We are transferred out of the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of Jesus Christ (Colossians 1:13). All of God’s grace, wisdom, power, etc. are deposited into our born-again spirit. We turn from death to life. We were separated from God and now we’re eternally connected to Him.
It’s the ultimate new beginning. However, after we receive salvation there are times that we need another new beginning. We don’t need to be saved all over again. Sometimes we fail, fall, make mistakes, go in the wrong direction, etc. It’s after these occurrences that we need a new beginning.
The same way it takes humility to say that we need a Savior, it takes humility to admit that we need a new start.
Oftentimes we will be prideful in our setbacks. We think that because we are Christians we need to be perfect. We don’t want to admit that we need a fresh start and will sit in our failures because of self-righteousness.
One of the beautiful things about our Father is He has seen our end from our beginning. He knows that we’re going to fall and He has already made a way and given us the strength to get back up. To sit in pride and self-righteousness faking perfection only delays His plan for us.
Our failures only become our identity when we make them our final destination. When we choose to cry out to our loving Father we will always get another chance. If you need a new beginning in any area of your life and you’ve been delaying the new start I want you to know that now is the day of salvation, now can be the day of your new beginning. Just lay down your pride and cry out to your Father for whatever you need and He will readily give it to you.
